RIB has the largest dedicated Retina clinic in our area. Our Retina surgeon, Dr Somnath Chakraborty has an experience of nearly 15 years of independent vitreo-retina practice. He got his retina training at the Vitreo-retina clinic of Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. He has also received further training under Dr Peter Kertes in ROP, Dr Manish Nagpal and Dr Lalit Verma in Vitreo-retina surgery.
Dr Somnath has vast experience in managing Diabetic retinopathy, Retinal vein Occlusion, Pachychoroidal Diseases, Age Related Macular Gegeneration, Retinal Detachment, Vitreous Hemorrhage, Macular Pathologies like Macular Hole, Epi-retinal membrane and Vitreo-macular traction, and Ocular trauma and post cataract surgery complications like endophthalmitis, dropped IOL, Dropped lens etc
Rememeber a retinal evaluation takes time. It is not as fast as a glass check-up. This is because it requires a “Dilated Eye Examination”.
A Dilated Eye Examination ensures a complete check-up of the eye. It requires that we first put some drop in your eyes to dilate your pupils. The drop takes 15-20 minutes to show its effects. Hence, retina check-up takes more time.
If you have Diabetes, high Blood Pressure, minus power, undergone cataract surgery or are planning to undergo the same soon, or have been seeing few spots or thread like structures or flashses of light in front of your eyes, you must get a retina check-up done as soon as possible.
